This post is to introduce a wonderful teacher and friend to the expecting Mamas of Mission and surrounding areas! Kathy Yausie Reeves will be taking over teaching Prenatal Yoga in Mission for the summer months (and likely some of fall as well) while I take time off with Strange Baby #2. I'm very very excited about this. I have had the pleasure of knowing Kathy since I was a teenager. Her lovely daughter and I have been friends for years. It has been in recent years that I have gotten to know Kathy better, and feel I have the privilege of calling her friend and colleague in addition to "friends Mom"! It has been a wonderful experience seeing her bloom into a fabulous yoga teacher who carries so much passion. I was extremely thrilled when I learned that she had a keen interest in offering yoga to expecting women and even more excited when I knew she was certified and ready to go. She has been getting lots of great practice teaching prenatal yoga classes over at Haven Yoga and Wellness in Abbotsford while I hold down the fort in Mission, but will be taking the reigns in our lovely community as well starting July 5th.
Without further ado, here's an intro to Kathy in her own words:
Yoga found me 8 years ago. Oh, it was a slow and steady love affair,
no spectacular fireworks at first, many love/hate moments (maybe months)
along the way that, not surprisingly, still surface today.
Yoga found me, captivated me and transformed me.
I can only describe it as feeling as if I've come home.
Deeply embedded in my practice and teaching is mindfulness, inclusiveness,
respectfulness and kindness. I embrace self-care, self-compassion and loving
yourself just as you are. Let's honour our individuality, uniqueness and quirkiness, too.
In addition to yoga (and in no particular order), I'm a lover of my family, my dogs,
exploring the world, my yoga community, giving back to my community, lifetime
learning (including learning about myself) and great yoga music.
Yoga continues to enrich my social work practice and who I am as a person.
My favourite aspects of yoga include linking breath, body and mind, increasing
body awareness, being present, looking within myself, being mindful and learning
from my students and teachers- to whom I am forever grateful.
Classes take place at Chartwell Cedarbrooke Chateau, 32331 7th Ave, Mission
